Although there has been no official announcement of the fact, it is generally understood that the portfolio of the War office has been tendered to the Hon. James A. Seddon, of Virginia. Mr. Seddon is well known to the people of this district, which he at one time represented in the old Congress, and the reputation of being a man of energy and ability.
