Raleigh, March 15.

--The State Journal's correspondent says: ‘"Gen. D. H. Hill come upon the enemy's outpost at Deep Gully, on the Trent road, eight miles this side of Newbern. Yesterday morning the enemy's force consisted of four companies of infantry and one light battery. They became panic-stricken and fled across the steam, destroying the bridge. Gen. Hill had it quickly fixed, and pushed on after the enemy. The General's horse was twice struck with Minnie balls."’--A Yankee and a "Buffalo" were captured and had reached Kinston. They report the enemy at Newbern 12,000 strong. Gen. Hill was moving on Newbern.
