Commendable move.

--At the last term of the Rockbridge county (Va.) Court, a committee of citizens was appointed for the purpose of making a roll showing the names of all officers, non commissioned officers, and privates who have been, are now, or may be, in the military service of the Confederate States from that county during the present war, afflicting opposite to each name in said roll a complete history of each person from the time he entered the service until his connection therewith ceased by death or otherwise. Were this example more generally followed it would rescue from oblivious the names of the "unknown dead," and its beneficial influence would be felt throughout the army.
