From this point the reports which reach us are of an important character. These state that the battery of Capt. Sibley, connected with General French's division, was surprised and captured on Sunday night at Keeling's farm, on the Nansemond river. It is also said that 40 of our men were captured at the same line. Passengers by the train from Petersburg last night confirm this report.--During the forenoon of Monday heavy firing was heard in the direction of Suffolk, supposed to result from an engagement between the gunboats of the enemy and our artillery. Gen. Longstreet moved from his headquarters at an early hour on Monday morning.
