Murder.

--Charles C. Peddick, charged with stabbing and killing John Massening, in this city, about three months since, was before the Mayor yesterday, but owing to the absence of witnesses, the investigation was postponed till this morning. The accused and deceased were employed in the 7th street arsenal when the stabbing was inflicted. Not supposing the wound to be a mortal one, Peddick was admitted to bail, and escaped to Baltimore. Some few days since he returned to this city, when he was arrested by officer Kelly and lodged in prison, where he now awaits an examination.
