A Northern journal contains a long rigmarole account of some spiritual exhibitions made in the presence of Lincoln and his Cabinet. Napoleon, Gen. Knox, and others, were consulted as to the best mode of conducting the war. Lincoln must be in great straits when he has to look to the other world for military counsels. He reminds us of Saul, when Heaven had forsaken him, getting the Witch of Ender to raise up Samuel to give him advice. We should not think that Lincoln and his Cabinet need give themselves any extra trouble about calling up the spirits of the departed. A hundred thousand ghosts, whose blood is on his hands, will visit him soon enough, either in this world or the next, and make him pay, to the last crimson drop, "the deep damnation of their taking off."
