Shooting Scrape

--Last Thursday evening as Lieut Lucien L. Bass and Lieut Dillard were passing up Sixth street from Bell Isle, where their commands are on duty, they met a man who rudely ran against them, and turning with his hand on his pistol, asked if they wanted it. The officers paid but little attention to him, and were passing on, when they saw him running towards them with his pistol. Lieut. Bass drew his pistol and fired, the follow wincing as if struck, but firing two ineffectual shots. Lieut. B. then fired a second shot, when his antagonist wheeled and ran off. Learning afterwards that the man was struck, Lieut. Bass went to Justice Timberlake and gave bail to appear before the Mayor. Yesterday he renewed his bond, to enable the police to discover the wounded party, if possible.
