Gen. D. H. Hill on Exempts.

--An army correspondent of the Intelligencer is responsible for the following:

‘ Application for leave of absence in Gen. W. H. T. Walker's division of Gen. Hill's corps. Walker endorsed the application "disapproved, but respectfully forwarded to headquarters of Gen. D. H. Hill."

Gen. Hill endorsed it "approved, upon the ground that the brave men of the army should be permitted to go home whenever practicable; otherwise all the children to be born during the war and the usual period afterwards will be the offspring of the cowards at home who have substitutes and are otherwise exempt." Gen. Walker, upon the return of the application, cheerfully withdrew his disapproval and permitted the brave soldier to go home.
