Throwing stones

in the street is an ordinance violation that can be more properly punished by parents and guardians than by the police. Scarcely a day passes that lads are not complained of for throwing stones and endangering the safety of persons passing along the public thoroughfares. To prevent these annoyances parents must take the matter in hand and apply the birch — Every boy should be taught to respect the laws of the State and city, and where this is not done the youth is apt to grow up in lawless habits, and is almost sure to become a bad citizen. Let parents remember this fact.
