Bishop Hopkins, of Vermont.

The manly and noble reply of this venerable prelate to the undignified and fanatical letter of Bishop Potter, of Pennsylvania, is worthy the powerful intellect and Christian spirit of the greatest intellect of the Northern Episcopal Church. Whoever else has changed, the aged Bishop of Vermont stands like a gray old rock on the ocean side, firm and unwavering amid universal fluctuations, and refusing to bend or give back an inch before the fury of the storm. All honor to this man of principle, this "faithful among the faithless."
