sinks into the heart of man, and none more so, than that class of patriotic gentlemen who were the first to cry out for dissolution — who have urged everybody else to shoulder muskets and fight, while they remained at home to accumulate wealth — and who, on finding that their turn for the field had come around, started to flee to the Yankees, but were headed off at the Chickahominy, and turned back to face the music. Such has been the fate of a score or more of Gentiles as well as Jews, within the past few days. If these worthy gentlemen are not closely watched, they will yet make successful flight.
