Dangerous sport.

--About ten o'clock yesterday, while a crowd of boys and young men were engaged in the sport of skating on the basin, a youth named James Jenifer approached too near a hole made by the ice cutters, and before he could recover himself his right leg went in the water under the ice, but fortunately the velocity of the skater enabled him to reach a canal boat beyond the place of danger, and he was drawn out in a frightened, though saturated, condition. --While the excitement of skating is one of an exhilarating character yet we would recommend to our readers that there is great danger in risking their lives upon places where the ice getters have visited, and the effect of the sun has had such a tendency to weaken its strength, as that on the basin between 9th and 10th streets.
