--Yesterday was a light day with the
Mayor.
We give below a brictmention of the cases:
Sam, slave of the
Confederate States, was ordered to receive fifteen inches for having in his possession two flannel shirts and two sheets, which he was unable to establish a clear table to.
Nat, slave of
Maria Bohannon, arrested by the police for going at large, in violation of law, was sent on to the Hustings Court.
A negro boy named Purson, slave of
Leigh Powell, was ordered to be whipped for creating a disturbance in the street and resisting the officer who took him in custody.
Two slaves, named Peter and
Spencer, were arraigned on the charge of strating
pig iron from the Danville Railroad.
The evidence proving their guilt, they were sent on to the Hustings Court for further examination.
A white boy named
Arthur Nanck, arrested on the charge of stealing, bacon from
James W. Turner, was based to answer the offence before the Hustings Court.
Robert A. Crump was promptly discharged from all blame in shooting
Daniel Calianan on Saturday morning last.
