The News.

There was the usual dearth of news yesterday. A rumor obtained circulation on the streets that Cumberland Gap had been captured by our forces, but at the War Department nothing had been heard of it.

On the Peninsula all is quiet. Our pickets at West Point yesterday captured a negro spy sent there by the Yankees. He was brought to Richmond.
