--A New York paper of last week has the following good hit:

‘ The miscegenations may congratulate themselves that their promised land is already in sight. In the United States Senate on Thursday, on motion of Mr. Wilkinson, of Minnesota, the word "white" was stricken out of the bill establishing a temporary government for the new Territory of "Montana." This effectually brings the negro on an equality with the white inhabitant, and enables both races to cohabit alike and alike under the "organic law" In this view of this promising new Territory, would it not be more appropriate to name it "Microgenia ?" It is a more euphonious title than the one proposed. Senator Sumner desired to know the meaning of the name "Montana."He would labor under no ignorance in that respect it the name we suggest should be selected.
