City Council.
--The Council held a meeting yesterday at 12 o'clock to receive reports of the
Market Committee.
The committee reported an ordinance repealing the ordinance against huckstering.
The present law against huckstering was repealed and the ordinance on the same subject of 1862 was re- enacted and passed.
It was ordered to be published in the city papers for two weeks.
The committee also reported an ordinance, which was passed, requiring the
Clerks of the
Markets to make quarterly returns to the Council of all moneys received by them, and forbidding the
Clerks of the
Markets to buy any articles in the markets for persons other than themselves or members of their own families.
On motion of
Mr. Scott, it was
Resolved, That until the 10th day of June next the
City Chamberlain shall receive $5 notes for all debts due the city and pay them out to all creditors of the city.
