In the city court of Mobile on Monday last Jacob Richmond was convicted of the crime of extortion. He was fined 8000 and sentenced to three months imprisonment in the county jail.

Lt. Ed. A. West, Secretary to flag officer Tucker, at Charleston, S. C. was murdered in the streets of that city by some soldiers Friday night.

Gen. N. G. Evans (Ball's Bluff) was seriously injured at Charleston, S. C., Saturday, by being thrown from his buggy.
