Sentenced to the penitentiary.

--Meriwether Quarles, indicted for picking the pocket of James F. Smith, of a pocket-book containing sixty-two dollars, at the Linwood House sometime in the month of March last, was tried and convicted of the offence in Judge Lyons's Court yesterday. His term of imprisonment in the penitentiary was assessed by the jury at two years, and five years additional were added by the Judge in consequence of his having before been confined in that institution. A. Judson Crane, Esq., acted as prosecutor.
