Narrow escape from Drowning.

--About five o'clock Thursday afternoon, while Mr Henry Dudgeons, of Manchester, in company with several other persons, was bathing in the falls of James river, a short distance west of Mayo's bridge, he was suddenly caught up by the current and carried beyond his depth, and, being unable to swim, would have drowned had it not been for Mr William Snead, of this city, who went to his assistance. Mr D sank to the bottom three times, the last of which he remained under the water some time before he could be rescued, and when taken out he was to all appearances dead. The usual remedies in such cases, however, were resorted to, and after a while his friends had the gratification of witnessing, his resuscitation. Mr D was then removed to his residence, where he is still confined to his bed in consequence of the accident.
