Abbey Sweeney, charged with assaulting and beating
Matthew McCunliff and stealing a watch and medal from him, valued at $220, were remanded for examination before the Hustings Court.--A fine of $25 was imposed upon
Mrs. B. Schonfarber for purchasing fruit in the
Second Market to sell again.
In consideration of extenuating circumstances, no confiscation was imposed upon her.--
Ann Leary was required to give security for her good behavior, and keep the peace for twelve months towards
Thomas Hogan, whom she had abused and threatened to assault.--The continued case of
Jordan, slave of
Mary Hill, charged with stealing two thousand dollars' worth of corn, flour, cats, wheat, &c., was further put off till Monday.--
Anne E. Howis,
charged with keeping an and disorderly house, on Main street, near Nineteenth, and Fanny and
Hester Reubenstein, charged with using threatening and abusive language towards
Anne E. Howle, the occupant of said house, were required to give security for their appearance at court on Saturday to answer the offence alleged against them. --
Christian Burgen, charged with receiving a lot of leather which he knew to have been stolen from
George W. Bluford, and Stephen, slave of
William W. Crump, charged with stealing an overcoat, valued at $300, the property of
Dr. L. S. Joynes, were discharged, the circumstances being insufficient to justify their conviction.
