ECDIPPA or Achzib (ez-Zib) Israel.

Town on the Mediterranean coast, 9.4 km N of Acre. It was autonomous in the Persian period, and possibly occurs in Skylax' list. Pliny (HN 5.75) mentions Ecdippa, a town on the Phoenician coast and Eusebius refers to it as a road station 9 miles N of Acre on the road to Tyre (Onom. 30.13). In Jewish sources it appears as a place on the N boundary of the Holy Land. Excavations have revealed six occupation levels, from the 9th to the 3d c. B.C., and Persian and Phoenician cemeteries outside the town.
