II. πόντος εὔ. the Euxine, now the Black Sea, Hdt.1.6, al., E.IT125 (lyr., codd., sed leg. Ἀξείνου); and so εὔ. (leg. ἄξ-)“ οἶδμαId.HF 410 (lyr.); “εὔ. πέλαγοςPi.N.4.49; Εὔξεινος alone, Str.11.1.5; cf. ἄξενος: εὔξεινος is a euphemism, like Εὐμενίδες.
