A.one that knows or examines, an interpreter, discerner, “θεσφάτων” A.Ag.1130; “τῶν παραχρῆμα” Th.1.138; γλῶττα γ. (sc. γλυκέων καὶ δριμέων) X.Mem.1.4.5: γνώμονες, οἱ, inspectors of the sacred olives at Athens, Lys.7.25.
2. expert witness or valuer, SIG169.52 (lasus, iv B. C.).
3. as Adj., discerning, “νόος” Hymn.Is.141.
