θαλάσσιος θάλασσα

I.of, in, on or from the sea, belonging to it, Lat. marinus, οὔ σφι θαλάσσια ἔργα μεμήλει, of the Arcadians, Il.; κορῶναι τῇσίν τε θαλ. ἔργα μέμηλεν, i. e. which live by fishing, Od.:— θαλάσσια sea-animals, opp. to χερσαῖα, Hdt.; πεζοί τε καὶ θαλ. landsmen and seamen, Aesch.; θαλ. ἐκρίπτειν τινά to throw one into the sea, Soph.
