2.to compose a speech to be delivered by another, Isocr., Plat.:—Mid. to get speeches composed, Plat.
III.to compile, draw up, τοὺς πατρίους νόμους Xen.:—Mid., συγγράφεσθαί τι to draw up a contract or bond, id=Xen.; συγγράφεσθαι εἰρήνην πρός τινα to make a treaty of peace with another, Isocr.; absol. to sign a treaty, Thuc.:— πατέρες συγγεγραμμένοι = the Rom. Patres conscripti, Plut.
2.to draw up a form of motion to be submitted to vote, Xen.: so in Mid., Plat.
IV.to paint by contract, Ar.
