Albŭla Aqua

or Albŭlae Aquae. Cold sulphurous springs issuing from a small lake about sixteen miles from Rome, and flowing into the Anio. The largest of these springs was known as Albunea. The Romans esteemed the water for its medicinal properties, and used it for both drinking and bathing. Cf. Suet. Aug. 82.
