πήρα, θύλακος). A wallet, satchel, or travelling-bag carried by hand, or slung over the shoulder, or strapped on behind the saddle of a horse (Hor. Sat. i. 6, 106). A larger kind of bag was called averta Cod. Theod. viii. 5, 47).
