CA´RREA POTE´NTIA
CA´RREA POTE´NTIA a town of Lioguria, mentioned only by Pliny (
3.5. s. 7), who enumerates it among the “nobilia oppida” which adorned that province on the N. side of the Apennines. No other trace is found of it; and its site has been variously fixed at
Chieri near
Turin, and at
Carrù on the
Tanaro, a few miles S. of
Bene; the latter has perhaps the best claim.
