τιτύσκομαι (root τυκ, τυχεῖν), ipf. τιτύσκετο: (1) lit., try to hit, hence aim; ἄντα, ‘straight before one,’ Od. 21.48 ; τινός, ‘at something’; met., of purpose, design, φρεσί, Ν 558, Od. 8.556.—(2) try to get, hence make ready, prepare; πῦρ, ἵππους ὑπ᾽ ὄχεσφι, ‘couple,’ ‘put to,’ Il. 8.41.
