“test oath.” --The following is the test oath adopted by the city council of Montgomery, Ala. All citizens are required to take it: “ Be it further Resolved, That on the top of each page, above the signature, shall be inscribed the following:--‘ We, citizens of the city of Montgomery, Alabama, whose names appear signed below, do solemnly affirm, in the presence of God, that we will uphold, maintain, and support the Constitution of the Confederate States of America, and hereby pledge our lives and fortunes and most sacred honor in the defence of the rights of the citizens thereof.’

Resolved, further, That all our citizens be requested to call at the Clerk's office, and sign their names in said register.
