Chalmers, George 1742-1825

Historian; born in Fochabers, Scotland, in 1742; educated at King's College, Aberdeen; studied law; came to America in 1763, and practised in Baltimore. Being opposed to the Revolutionary War he returned to England. His publications relating to the United States include Political annals of the present United colonies; Opinions on interesting subjects of public laws and commercial policy, arising from American Independence; and Life of Thomas Paine. He died in London, May 21, 1825.
