Cocke, Philip St. George 1808-

Military officer; born in Virginia in 1808; graduated at the United States Military Academy in 1832; brigadier-general in the Confederate army in 1861; and was commander of the 5th Brigade in the first engagement of Bull Run. After eight months service he returned to his home in Powhatan county, Va., where he died, Dec. 26, 1861.
