Curtis, Benjamin Robbins 1809-1874

Jurist; born in Watertown, Mass., Nov. 4, 1809; graduated at Harvard in 1829; admitted to the bar in 1832; appointed to the United States Supreme Court in 1851; resigned in 1857, when he returned to Boston; was one of the counsel for President Johnson during the impeachment trial. He died in Newport, R. I., Sept. 15, 1874.
