Patriot, and one of the captors of
Andre; born in New York City in 1758. Three times he was made a prisoner during the
Revolutionary War,
and had escaped, the second time, only four days before the capture of
Andre.
He and his associates received from Congress a silver medal each, and were awarded an annuity of $200. In 1827 a marble monument was erected by the
corporation of New York City in St. Peter's church-yard near
Peekskill, as a memorial of him. He died in
Staatsburg, N. Y., Feb. 18, 1818.
