Rowan, Andrew summers 1881-

Military officer; born in Gap Mills, Va.; graduated at West Point in 1881; promoted captain in the 19th United States Infantry, April 26, 1898. At the opening of the war with Spain Captain Rowan was sent by the United States government with the message to Garcia.
