Seddon, James Alexander 1815-1880

Lawyer; born in Falmouth, Va., July 13, 1815; graduated at the law school of the University of Virginia; was a member of Congress in 1845-47 and 1849-51; of the peace convention which met in Washington Feb. 4, 1861, and of the first Confederate Congress; and was Secretary of War in the cabinet of Jefferson Davis in 1862-65. He died in Goochland county, Va., Aug. 19, 1880.
