Albany, Albany County, New York

State Capital, a city of 80,000 pop., on Hudson River, 142 miles from New York. It is the center of an immense trade, being at the junction of several railroads and at the entrance of Erie Canal to the Hudson. It is connected by river and canals to Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and Lake Champlain. Extensively engaged in the lumber trade. The fourth city in the state in point of population.
