Joseph Marye, an Italian, living on 23d st., was arraigned before the Recorder, yesterday, charged with feloniously inflicting a gun-shot wound on the arm of Georgiana Scott, a free negress, a few weeks since. It appeared that the load, consisting of a ten-penny nail, went through Scott's house and entered her arm, from which it was extracted by Dr. Waring. The defendant had been in the habit of discharging fire-arms on his premises, and the accident above related was one of the results of that reprehensible practice. There was an entire absence of felonious intent — though, when defendant was informed of the damage done, he left the city, and was not apprehended till Tuesday, on his return. The wounded person made a lucky escape in getting ‘"scot free,"’ as she had an infantile piccaniuny in her arms when the missile struck her person. She has not yet entirely recovered. The defendant was required to furnish $100 security to be of good behavior. He declared himself minus friends and acquaintances, and the usual result of that unfortunate state of circumstances immediately ensued. He went down.
