--Mrs. Gaines has no idea of oppressing the people who have been beaten by the decree of the Supreme Court.--Gen. Gaines exacted a pledge from her a few hours before he died, that she would not compromise with any parties to win the case.--She can now, having complied with his dying request, make any just arrangements.
