House of Delegates.

Tuesday, March 26th, 1861.
The House was called to order at 10 o'clock, by Speaker Crutchfield.

Engrossed.--The bill amending and re-enacting an act, passed March 22d, 1860, entitled "an act to incorporate the Knob turnpike company, in the county of Washington, and incorporating the Heyter's Gap and Washington turnpike company," was taken up, on motion of Mr. Preston, read a second time, and ordered to be engrossed and read a third time.

Printing the Code.--The bill appropriating a sum necessary to pay for the preparation and publication of the second edition of the Code, was taken up and passed — ayes 114; noes none.

Indefinitely Postponed.--The bill amending an act passed March 6th, 1858, entitled "an act to amend the 2d section of an act passed March 2d, 1858, entitled ' an act to organize the militia and provide for the defence of the Common wealth,'" was taken up on motion of Mr. Crump, amended, and as amended, read a second time; and the question being, Shall the bill be engrossed and read a third time?

Mr. Phelps moved the indefinite postponement of the bill; and the question being on agreeing thereto, was put and decided in the affirmative.

Senate Bill Passed.--Senate bill for the relief of John M. Jones, late Sheriff of Pendleton county, was passed.

House Bills Passed.--Repealing an act passed April 2d, 1858, entitled "an act requiring the Banks of the Commonwealth to resume specie payment;" amending the 2d section of an act authorizing the Bank of the Valley in Virginia to establish a branch in the city of Richmond; incorporating the Monongahela Savings Bank, in the county of Monongalia; amending and re-enacting an act, passed March 22d, 1860, entitled "an act to incorporate the Knob Turnpike Company, in the county of Washington, and incorporating the Hayter's, Abingdon and Tennessee Turnpike Company;" incorporating the Piedmont Land and Improvement Company.

Enrolled Bills.--Mr. Hackley, from the Committee on Enrolled Bills, presented sundry such bills, which the House ordered the Clerk to communicate to the Senate for further examination.

Appropriation Bill.--The bill making appropriations for defraying expenses of the General Assembly and Convention, now in session, with the pending amendment thereto, was taken up, on motion of Mr. Haymond, and being discussed, was finally laid on the table.
