The first and last slaves in Kansas.

--Among the passengers by the steamer Matagorda, which sails this morning for Texas, is our esteemed friend, Gen. J. W. Whitfield, formerly of Kansas, and who was a delegate from that Territory to Congress during the latter part of Mr. Pierce's and the first part of Mr. Buchanan's Administration. Gen. Whitfield has located in Texas, and takes with him the first negroes which were carried to Kansas, and the last to leave it.-- New Orleans Picayune,
