--The news from Havana shows the disastrous effect the war is already having on American shipping. British and other foreign flags are getting all the freight there worth having, while United States bottoms are obliged to go a begging, because of the fear of privateers. While the Morrill tariff has about used up the freighting business with Europe, the war puts a summary end to the country trade South, and cuts up the business with the West Indies.--N. F. Express.
