The late murder of a policeman in New Orleans.

--Salvador Greenle, the Sicilian who stabbed police officer Lafferanderle in New Orleans on Christmas night, was captured two days afterwards, after a long chase. When the officers came near him, he tried to make his escape. The officers pursued, and one of them pulling out his revolver, called out, "Stop, or you are a dead man!" The cowardly murderer fell upon his knees, and trembling like an aspen, surrendered, the tears streaming down from his eyes with fear. The same evening some of the night watchmen when collected in the police yard to answer roll call, called out, "Fetch him out! hang him!" At this Greenle almost shrieked from his cell window, "I beg your pardon, gentlemen, I beg your pardon!" He was crying and trembling with fright almost constantly in his cell. There is no doubt but he will be sentenced and hung, as he richly deserves.
