[for the Richmond Dispatch.]
contributions Acknowledged.
Jamestown Island, Aug. 1st, 1861.
To the Editors of the Dispatch: Permit us through your columns to acknowledge the receipts and return our thanks for various and sundry articles, together with forty dollars in money, contributed by the ladies in the vicinity of Buford Depot, Bedford county, Va., for the relief of the sick on Jamestown Island.
We wish also to express our thanks for many articles furnished by the Ladies' Association and the Ladies' Aid Society of Richmond.
Our thanks are also due to Mrs. Henry Cox and Mrs. Susan A. Chaffin, of Henrico county, for valuable contributions to the sick.--Too much praise cannot be bestowed upon the ladies for their exertions in behalf of the sick soldiers now in our hospitals; and we are sure they will ask no greater reward than the assurance that their labor have contributed greatly to the comfort and recovery of many now in the service of their country, whose arms in battle will be nerved by the remembrance of their generous consideration and sympathy.
