The gallant dead.

--A handsome marble monument has been completed in this city, by order of the parents of George W. Stovall, of the ‘"Rome Light Guards,"’ 8th Georgia regiment, to mark the spot where he fell, in the memorable battle of July 21st. Mr. Stovall was the editor of a popular journal in Georgia previous to the breaking out of the war, and among the first to volunteer and first to die in defence of the South.
