Editors Dispatch.--It is gratifying and encouraging to see how the insatiable vampires, the hungry breed of speculators, who are availing themselves of the exigencies of the times to
rob the people, not caring if the
Confederate Staessink, so they swim — I say, it is highly encouraging to notice how these greedy cormorants writhe and twist under the timely and well-directed fire of your batteries.
It is in the power of the press to put a stop to this system of robbery.
By all means let it be done.
You would be unfaithful to the high trust of sentinels on the watch-towers of the people if you failed to denounce these miserable Shylocks.
Then, pour hot shot into the midst of these wretched extortioners, who are out Yankeeing the
Yankees, and drive them, if possible, into the ranks of the enemy, where they could not harm us as much as they now do. Be assured that, in so doing, you will be acting the part of patriots and benefactors, and that all whose approbation is worth gaining will bid you God speed in the good work. R. E. C.
