--We take the following paragraph from the Tazewell Democrat, of the 16th inst:

The rumor is current here, that Capt. John May, the gallant leader of the Confederates in the fight at Piketon, Ky., has been promoted to the rank of Colonel. He succeeds Col. Williams, who has been ordered to report himself at Richmond. It is said that Capt. May was the unanimous choice of the regiment.
