A may on fire.
--The following is fold in the
Adrian (Michigan) Watchtower, of the 29th ultimo:
‘
A little more than a week ago a most singular accident happened to
Mr. John Stretch, in the south part of the city.
As related to us, it seems that for some infirmity he was submitting to a general ablution with alcohol.--During the process he was standing near a not stove, and when his skin was well moistened, the alcoholic vapor, drawn to the fire by the draft of the stove, flashed into a blaze which, as quick as thought, envaloped his whole body, greatly to the consternation of
Mr. Stretch and his wife.
The flames soon lapped up all that fed them and subsided, but not till he had a pretty distinet glimpse of the feelings of
John Rogers at the stake.
