From the Rappahannock,

There was an entire absence of reliable news from the line of the Rappahannock yesterday, and even reports as to the operation of our forces in that quarter were exceedingly meager. It seemed to be generally accepted as true, however, that our forces were pursuing rapidly the retreating foe, who were abandoning everything to make sure their retreat to the banks of the Potomac. Late in the afternoon there was a street rumor that our army had overtaken the enemy, and that a heavy fight was going on; but no one know the origin of the rumor, or upon what grounds it was based.--Another report, which received some favor, and which was accredited to a certain extent, was that a portion of our troops entered Fredericksburg on Monday evening. Neither of these reports are substantiated by information in official quarters, and we think are consequently not entitled to confidence.
