We conversed with officers last night, who left the army of Northern Virginia on Thursday last, and learned from them that our army was confronting the foe in a state of masterly inactivity — that everything was quiet along the lines and nothing on the table.

At a late hour last night the War Department was without anything definite from Gen. Lee, having received in dispatches of an official nature.
